BMW utvecklar ny generation förbränningsmotorer

De allra flesta biltillverkarna är fast beslutna med att fasa ut sina förbränningsmotorer och inom några år bara erbjuda eldrivna alternativ. Men inte BMW. Som vi skrivit tidigare kommer de fortsätta med just dessa maskiner och nu ska en ny generation med bensin- och dieseldrivna sexcylindriga och åttacylindriga motorer vara under utveckling. Dessa ska ha en ny sorts teknik i topplocken som ska hjälpa till att hålla nere utsläppen.Frank Weber som är development director hos BMW säger i ett uttalande:"We need state-of-the-art combustion engines for a few years to effectively reduce CO2 emissions in the passenger car sector globally. That’s why we’re working on a new generation of engines: petrol, diesel, six-cylinder, eight-cylinder. With the six-cylinder engine alone, we are reducing CO2 emissions more massively than has been the case with a generation change. In order to reconcile emissions requirements on the one hand and performance requirements on the other, we looked at the entire charge cycle and found a promising approach there."
