Elbilar från Stellantis kan få förbränningsmotorer

Även Stellantis har insett att det inte kommer att fungera att köra all in på elbilsfronten utan att andra alternativ kommer att finnas kvar i många år till. Nu öppnar de upp för att stoppa förbränningsmotorer i elbilarna som erbjuds, om det nu är vad kunderna vill ha. Plattformarna ska vara såpass flexibla att det går och därför kan det vara ett vettigt alternativ om det nu är så att elbilsboomen har lagt sig. Ett exempel är kommande Jeep Wagoneer S som är uppbyggd som en elbil från grunden men denna skulle även kunna utrustas med enbart en förbränningsmotor, eller någon form av hybridlösning. Koncernen ska lanseras 25 nya modeller i år och 18 av dessa presenteras först som elbilar, men det är alltså inte ristat i sten att de bara kommer med eldrift.Stellantis finanschef Natalie Knight säger följande i ett uttalande:"The majority of our products are either ICE vehicles or intended to utilize those multi-energy platforms that we have. This is a great opportunity for us, compared to our peers, having the multi-energy platforms for all of our products in development and having the agility to move between them. Our goal is to put ourselves in the position where, on the one hand, we can show the market that we know where things are moving and we’re committed very much to the EV market but, on the other hand, we have the flexibility to go and grow where the consumer demand is. We want to stay close to the consumer, and if we see there’s an opportunity with those models that we introduced as a BEV first, we’ll look at that."
