NASA presenterar rymdteleskopet WFIRST
Framtida superteleskop
NASA har dragit igång arbetet med att ta fram ett teleskop som ska kunna täcka in hundra gånger så mycket som Hubble-teleskopet kan göra idag.Man kallar sitt kommande teleskop för WFIRST (Wide Field Infrared Survey Telescope) och när det väl är i drift hoppas man kunna hitta världar utanför vårt solsystem och även lösa en del av mysterierna som omgärdar mörk materia och mörk energi. John Grunsfeld på NASA säger:
"WFIRST has the potential to open our eyes to the wonders of the universe, much the same way Hubble has. This mission uniquely combines the ability to discover and characterize planets beyond our own solar system with the sensitivity and optics to look wide and deep into the universe in a quest to unravel the mysteries of dark energy and dark matter."
NASA siktar på att ta WFIRST i drift någon gång i mitten av 2020-talet. I klippet nedan snackas det lite mer om teleskopet.
