Twittrade bort toppjobb
Går inte att twittra om vad som helst
Att man inte ska twittra ut vad som helst, även om man använder sitt privata konto, är nog något som sydafrikanskan Justine Sacco idag är rätt så medveten om efter att i förrgår, precis innan hon hoppade på ett plan till Sydafrika, twittrade ut följande:
"Going to Africa. Hope I don't get AIDS. Just kidding. I'm white!"Detta ledde till att Saccos chefer på det amerikanska internetföretaget IAC, företaget som bland annat driver sajterna Daily Beast, Vimeo, CollegeHumor, Match.com samt OKCupid och där Sacco arbetade som kommunikationschef(!), beslutade sig för att ge Sacco sparken på "flygande" fot och när hon landade i Sydafrika gjorde hon detta som arbetslös. IAC kommenterade det hela med:
"The offensive comment does not reflect the views and values of IAC.We take this issue very seriously, and we have parted ways with the employee in question."
There is no excuse for the hateful statements that have been made and we condemn them unequivocally. We hope, however, that time and action, and the forgiving human spirit, will not result in the wholesale condemnation of an individual who we have otherwise known to be a decent person at core."Justine Sacco har själv inte kommenterat händelsen och hennes twitter-konto är nu raderat från Twitter.
